Nick Lawson
Nick Lawson was born in London and emigrated to WA in the late 1980’s. He has an eclectic background in architecture, philosophy and computing. Five years ago, Nick returned to pottery as a mature student at Guildford Village Potters. Prior to this he had dabbled with sculpture and clay modelling whilst an art student at Canterbury Collage of Art.
Nick’s current work is undertaken in his home studio in the Swan Valley. He enjoys making a variety of pottery forms, both by hand and on the wheel. He loves to create individual pieces and rarely make a set of things!
Nick continues to perfect his techniques which include homemade glazes and firing. He displays many pottery items in his rural garden. They attract birds and lizards as many become water bowls and saucers for flowerpots which are ideal in the hot WA summer
Nick values his time being a member of Guildford Potters and is inspired by it being a Cooperative as it is run jointly by its members who then share all its benefits, ideas and techniques.
