Cathy Day
I live on a bush block at Darlington and draw inspiration from the environment, using wildflowers, native birds and animal motifs to decorate much of my work. I enjoy making sculptural pieces, and also do a full range of domestic and decorative pots. I find the versatility of clay, and working in 3 dimensions, very satisfying.
I have had several solo exhibitions and have exhibited at many local art shows. My work has been acquired by both the Swan and Mundaring Shires and I have won a number of awards, including ‘most successful exhibitor and best exhibit – pottery’ at the Royal Show. I also really enjoyed designing and organizing 2 clay community art projects.
I trained as a primary teacher and also have a diploma in Art Studies majoring in ceramics. . I have been a professional potter for more than 40 years, and have been a pottery teacher and member of Guildford Village Potters for most of that time.
